Tourists take pictures of the road sign of the village of Fucking, some 35 km North of Salzburg, on June 18, 2008. Due to its name, the village attracts many foreign tourists. The village is known to have existed as “Fucking” since at least 1070 and is named after a man from the 6th century called Focko. In 2004, mainly due to the stolen village traffic signs with its name on them, a vote was held on changing the village’s name, but the residents voted against doing so.
